This red wine reveals a deep hue, whose intensity is enhanced by the presence of Cabernet and Malbec in the blend.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is generous, marked by enticing red fruit notes brought by a majority share of Merlot.
Palate
On the palate, this wine proves to be at once powerful, structured and elegant. The Merlot lends it a beautiful roundness, while the other grape varieties reinforce its structure and depth.
Food and wine pairings
To showcase this cuvée, opt for red meats, whether grilled or prepared in sauce, as well as game. This wine will also pair wonderfully with foie gras, characterful cheeses or gastronomic specialities from the South-West of France.
Serving and cellaring
Château Troquart 2023 reveals its full potential when served at a temperature between 16 and 19 °C. It is advisable to pour it without aerating it too much beforehand. With excellent ageing potential, this vintage can be kept in the cellar and will drink well until around 2038, or even beyond for lovers of mature wines.
The refinement and richness of a Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion wine
The estate
Located in the commune of Montagne, in the Bordeaux region, Château Troquart came into being under its current identity in 1999, when it was acquired by Jean-Guy Grégoire. This intimate 5.5-hectare vineyard is now run with passion by his son Etienne and his wife Marie, while Jean-Guy retains a strategic eye over the estate. By combining respect for tradition with an innovative approach, the family has built a truly recognised name. The estate stands out for its meticulous, family-run management, producing wines with a unique character.
The vineyard
The vines of the Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion appellation flourish on a clay-limestone terroir set on hillsides. Benefiting from an excellent south and south-west exposure, the vineyard enjoys optimal sunshine. Averaging 40 years of age, the vines are cultivated according to the principles of reasoned conventional agriculture, ensuring respect for the environment and the quality of the grapes.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes are processed in lined concrete vats. The wine then benefits from careful ageing in oak barrels for 12 months, which gives it its final complexity.
Grape varieties
Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
