Tasting notes
Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves particularly expressive, blending scents of black fruits and well-ripened red cherries. Subtle floral notes reminiscent of violet intertwine with spicy touches of white pepper and mineral hints characteristic of the garrigue.
Palate
The palate offers a remarkable balance between richness and freshness, carried by a silky texture and an elegant density. The fine, smooth tannins allow a vibrant fruit character to express itself, supported by lovely mineral tension. The finish, persistent and floral, extends the tasting experience with great clarity.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs beautifully with lamb-based dishes, whether slow-roasted or braised with Mediterranean herbs and garlic. It also shines alongside grilled meats in sauce, as well as flavorful vegetarian dishes such as a tagine with dried fruits or caramelized vegetables.
Service and storage
The Arjiès 2024 offers immediate drinking pleasure while possessing a fine structure that will allow it to gain complexity over years of cellaring.
The elegance and mineral freshness of a Terrasses du Larzac wine
The estate
Officially founded in 2017, Clos Constantin is a 15-hectare estate located in the Languedoc region. At the helm of this property, co-managers Pierre Halley and Samuel Durand combine their winemaking and commercial expertise to produce wines of great precision. Quickly recognized, the estate stands out for its strong environmental commitment, having achieved organic certification in 2021 and Demeter biodynamic certification in 2023. This rigorous approach allows the full authenticity and uniqueness of their Mediterranean terroir to shine through.
The vineyard
The vines flourish at around 230 meters of altitude in the Argelliers sector, at the southeastern edge of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation. This terroir benefits from a microclimate marked by significant temperature swings and cool nights, favoring optimal berry ripening. The soils, remarkably diverse, are composed of clay-limestone matrices mixed with sand, gravel, and pebbles, providing excellent drainage. The vineyard is managed with great precision, favoring limited yields, gentle pruning, and grafting through massale selection to preserve the health of the vines.
The vintage
2024 was marked by generally cool weather throughout the growing cycle. These particular climatic conditions required meticulous attention, with harvesting carried out early in the morning to preserve the grapes' full aromatic freshness and natural acidity.
Winemaking and aging
The Arjiès 2024 is crafted according to a philosophy of minimal intervention. Depending on the needs, the grapes are either destemmed or vinified as whole clusters, with fermentation triggered exclusively by indigenous yeasts. Aging then takes place in large wooden vessels, specifically 600-liter half-barrels. This choice allows for slow, subtle oxidative development, refining the tannins without imparting excessive woody aromas to the wine.
Grape varieties
This blend is predominantly composed of Syrah, complemented by Grenache and Cinsault.
