    Decanter

Gorgeous aromas of orange, clementine and grapefruit with orange blossom, honey, straw and salted caramel vanilla. Juicy and so lively, lifted and almost sharp which perfectly counters the sugary mid-palate with buttery popcorn, butterscotch, pineapple and apricot fruit. I love the mineral, flinty finish. Sharp, bright, tangy and rich but ends clean and focused with impressive attention to detail and such focused purity on show. 140g/l residual sugar (one of the lowest in the appellation this year). A yield of 14hl/ha on 6ha. Ageing 90% in barrels (1/3 new) and 10% in others.

Saffron, pineapple, vanilla, caramel, orange blossom, and banana aromas are the first things you notice. The palate is filled with honey-coated, spicy, tropical fruits, apricots, and brown sugar, with a long, and lively finish. The wine blends 70% Semillon with 30% Sauvignon Blanc. Drink from 2028-2047. 93-95 Pts

Clean, sappy, Chinese pear, frangipane, grilled pineapple, spiced grilled peaches with cumin seeds and jasmine blossom, great quality. 33% new oak. Harvest September 19 to October 7. Yield 14 hl/ha, three passes made through the vineyards, 140g/l of residual sugar, with a 3.2ph.

The bouquet of Clos Haut Peyraguey stands out for its subtlety and its ability to highlight both its inviting character and its complexity. Delicate hints of saffron mingle with rooty nuances and aromas of lime, acacia blossom and mandarin peel, followed by a mineral touch. Unctuous and elegant on the attack, the wine develops along a linear course. It has breadth without heaviness—this is where it truly shines. It is fresh, suave and creamy, underpinned by fine bitter notes that bring lift and length to the finish. An elegant, digestible Sauternes. A great success.

    Vinum

Expressive nose, crystal-clear and pure, orange blossom, quince jelly, dried apricots, figs, with forest honey, very complex; on the palate, dense yet highly elegant, delicate fruit, excellent acidity; long finish, with a saline finale. Perhaps the best Clos Haut-Peyraguey ever produced.

The excellence of a Premier Cru Classé from Sauternes

    The estate

Born from the division of a historic estate in 1879, the Clos Haut-Peyraguey is an illustrious Premier Cru Classé of 1855 located at the highest point of the Bommes plateau, in the Bordeaux region. This intimate property has established itself as a true mark of prestige over the decades. Since 2012, entrepreneur Bernard Magrez has led the estate, continuing its pursuit of excellence. Combining centuries-old heritage with sustainable practices, this viticultural gem produces sweet wines of great complexity, recognized worldwide for their unique expression of terroir.

    The vineyard

This exceptional terroir of the Sauternes appellation covers an area of 6 hectares. The vines, with an average age of 43 years, benefit from a planting density of 6,600 vines per hectare. They thrive on soils composed of sand and gravel, resting on a clay subsoil. This unique geological configuration ensures the preservation of excellent freshness and optimal acidity. The estate is strongly committed to environmental respect, completely banning chemical weed control as well as the use of CMR products.

    The vintage

The year began with a winter season that was both mild and dry. Spring then proved particularly favorable, encouraging good development of the vegetative cycle. The summer period was marked by intense heatwaves that lasted until the end of August. Subsequently, alternating sunny spells and scattered rainfall created ideal conditions for ripening.

    Winemaking and aging

The harvest took place from September 19 to October 7, yielding 14 hectoliters per hectare thanks to carefully chosen picking dates. In the cellar, the production of Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2025 begins with slow and gentle pressing, followed by a rigorous selection of juices. Fermentations take place directly in barrels, and the perfect balance between sugar and alcohol is determined through regular tastings. Aging is carried out 90% in oak barrels (one-third new wood) and 10% in other vessels such as stainless steel, concrete, or sandstone.

    Grape varieties

This Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2025 is made from a blend of 70% sémillon and 30% sauvignon blanc.
