Deeply colored, with chocolate-covered plums, flowers, forest floor, leafy greenery, and spice box aromatics that are quite expressive in the aromatic profile. The palate is even better, with a vivid display of ripe, sweet, juicy dark fruits. Elegant, concentrated, silky, and deep, the wine has ample lift, so you taste and feel the freshness and purity in the fruit. The extensive finish displays chocolaty plums, licorice, and spice from beginning to end. The blend is 70% Merlot with 30% Cabernet Franc, 14.5% ABV, 3.6 pH. Yields were low at 19 hectoliters per hectare. Harvesting took place September 8 - September 18. Drink from 2030-2060. 95-97 Pts

The bouquet of Clos L’Eglise highlights its open, expressive character with notes of ripe dark berries, while menthol nuances bring welcome freshness and the ageing reveals itself through hints of toast. Smooth on the attack, the wine is velvety and elegant. It moves forward with restraint and never tries to overdo it, which gives it a pleasing sense of serenity. A touch of austerity contributes to the overall balance, showing on the finish while underpinning freshness and length. A wine driven by finesse. This strikes me as a very relevant approach, as it matches the terroir’s resources. I note the care taken with extraction, with an obvious concern for harmony. A thoroughly enjoyable wine.

Deep black color. An intense, fruity nose that is pure, complex and creamy. Supple on the attack, dense on the mid-palate, with plenty of flavor and a melting texture backed by a tight tannic frame, the wine soars through the finish—long, sappy and complex. Superb. Blend: 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 14.5% - pH: 3.6 - IPT: 100. Yield: 20 hl/ha.

    Description

The aromatic complexity and finesse of a Pomerol red wine

    The estate

Located in the heart of Pomerol, Clos L'Église was one of the largest vineyards during the 18th century. Acquired in 1997 by Sylviane Garcin Cathiard, sister of Daniel Cathiard, owner of Smith Haut-Lafitte, this estate on the right bank of Bordeaux is today managed by Hélène Garcin Cathiard and Patrice Lévêque.

    The vineyard

Clos l'Église is a Pomerol wine produced from a 4.30-hectare vineyard established on a clay and gravel terroir.

    Vinification and ageing

Hand-harvested, the grapes are vinified in stainless steel vats. Ageing then continues for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels.

    Blend

This Clos l'Église 2025 is a blend of Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Franc (30%).
