    The Producer

Founded in the early 20th century by Armand Foreau, Philippe Foreau's grandfather, the Domaine du Clos Naudin spans 12 hectares of Chenin Blanc (with 10.70 hectares in production) in the northeast of Vouvray in the Loire. Philippe Foreau, the current owner since 1983, has been working with his son Vincent since 2015. This family estate stands out for its organic methods, cellars carved into tuffeau stone and a minimalist philosophy. With only 55,000 bottles produced annually, Clos Naudin represents, alongside Domaine Huet, the absolute pinnacle of the Vouvray appellation.

    The Vineyard

The vines of Clos Naudin thrive on clay-siliceous soils with a calcareous subsoil in the Vouvray appellation. The average age of the vines is 38 years, guaranteeing high grape concentration. Traditional and sustainable viticulture avoids the use of chemical herbicides, favoring mechanical and manual soil tillage.

    Vinification and Aging

The production of the Méthode Traditionnelle Extra Brut 2019 follows a strict process, starting with exclusively manual harvesting. Aging takes place for approximately 8 months in old 300-liter oak barrels. Bottling always occurs before summer, between April and May. Disgorgement was carried out in June 2023. No chaptalization or acidification is performed, respecting the natural expression of the terroir. This is followed by 3 years of aging in the cellar.
