Description
A dry white wine from the Loire combining vivacity and precision
The estate
In 2018, Ivan Massonnat, a wine enthusiast deeply attached to the Loire terroir, took over the reins of Domaine Pithon-Paillé, founded by Jo Pithon. Renamed Domaine Belargus, this Anjou vineyard now spans 24 hectares farmed entirely biodynamically. The estate's approach centres on showcasing its terroirs through single-parcel cuvées drawn from meticulously chosen crus, lieux-dits and monopoles. Each wine celebrates the authentic expression of Chenin Blanc, the flagship grape variety of the Loire region.
The vineyard
The Ronceray cuvée is the result of a blend of parcels perfectly positioned on the slope of Quarts-de-Chaume, at the heart of Anjou. Spanning a total of 4.44 hectares, this vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir. The name of the cuvée evokes the Abbaye de Ronceray, which once received the finest portions of the harvest offered by the lords of Haute Guerche. It is from this custom that the famous Quarts-de-Chaume terroir takes its name.
Blend
This Ronceray 2022 from Domaine Belargus is made from 100% Chenin Blanc.
