Decanter

A tasting of each of the seven 2022 Musigny VV sub-sections and an approximate blend hint at a wine of almost voluptuous sensuality, with expressive mulberry and pomegranate fruit and hints of earth, smoke and liquorice that waft from the glass. The texture is powerfully tannic and dense but almost infinitely silky, and there is a dynamic interplay between the perfumed fruit and robust structure. Ideally, wait a decade before opening.

A great Burgundian legend is back in very top form. Enveloping nose of red fruit, red roses and wildflowers. Anything but dramatic, this stuns you with its incredible finesse and extraordinary textural complexity. On the upper edge of medium-bodied, also thanks to the fabulously fine tannins that interlock perfectly with the intense minerality to drive the super-long finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

The Estate
The history of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue, producer of this Musigny Grand Cru "Vieilles Vignes" 2022, begins in 1450 with Jean Moisson. It was not until 1925 that it took on its current name. Today, this emblematic estate of Burgundy is run by Claire and Marie de Ladoucette, representing more than twenty generations of the same family lineage. The estate stands out for its nature-friendly approach and its dominant position on prestigious terroirs. It embodies historic expertise through a philosophy centered on sustainable practices.

The Vineyard
The vineyard from which this Musigny Grand Cru "Vieilles Vignes" 2022 originates is located within the Musigny appellation, at the heart of the Côte de Nuits. The vines thrive on east-facing slopes. The terroir rests on a limestone subsoil dating back to the Jurassic period, covered with brown soils rich in red clay and scattered with pebbles. The estate favors meticulous viticulture, free from herbicides, promoting horse plowing and the use of natural compost to preserve soil vitality.
