    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru 2022 Domaine Cordier Père et Fils

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a hue ranging from pale gold to deep gold, enhanced by subtle green highlights. It appears clear and brilliant.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet blends notes of white-fleshed fruit (peach, pear) and citrus (lemon, grapefruit) with delicate floral touches of acacia. The whole is underpinned by a mineral thread evoking chalk and flint, along with subtle brioche, buttery and toasted hazelnut nuances derived from the ageing process.

    Palate
The palate offers a full and generous texture, carried by a lovely fruity expression. The opulence of this sun-drenched vintage is perfectly balanced by a mineral structure and well-judged acidity. The persistent finish lingers on citrus and stone fruit aromas, with a touch of salinity.

    Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with noble shellfish such as lobster, langoustines or scallops, particularly when served with a beurre blanc sauce. It also enhances creamy poultry dishes, matured goat's cheeses, as well as Asian-inspired dishes such as sushi or fish tagine.

    Service and storage

For an optimal tasting experience of this Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 11 and 13°C, after around an hour of aeration. This wine can be enjoyed now, but it will continue to evolve favourably in the cellar until around 2032.

The elegance and richness of a Premier Cru from the Mâconnais

    The estate

Founded in 1945 in the heart of the village of Fuissé in France, Domaine Cordier Père et Fils has established itself as an unmissable reference in Burgundy, in the Mâconnais region. Led since 1987 by Christophe Cordier, the estate now spans around thirty hectares across more than 120 plots. Driven by a determination to showcase each terroir, the domaine stands out for its artisanal approach and deep respect for the environment, reflected in its adoption of biodynamic practices. The wines produced embody the perfect alliance between human craftsmanship and the richness of the local geology.

    The vineyard

The vineyard from which this Pouilly-Fuissé originates rests on clay-limestone soils of Jurassic origin, scattered with scree and iron oxides. Situated at an altitude ranging from 200 to 375 metres, the vines receive meticulous care throughout the year. The domaine favours soil-friendly methods, such as horse ploughing, the use of natural compost and manual shoot training. These practices promote biodiversity and allow the vines to draw out the full complexity of their terroir.

    The vintage

The year 2022 was marked by particularly hot and dry weather conditions. After an early warm-up and a spring frost episode with no lasting consequences, the vines had to contend with a scorching summer. Fortunately, timely rainfall in June helped prevent excessive water stress. These conditions gave rise to small, concentrated berries, offering optimal phenolic ripeness during the manual harvest, which began at the end of August.

    Winemaking and ageing

The making of this Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru 2022 relies on gravity-flow facilities that allow the juice to be handled with great delicacy. Following slow, gentle whole-bunch pressing, fermentation begins naturally through indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged on fine lees, without racking, for 18 months in 350-litre French oak barrels, followed by 8 months of refinement in stainless steel tanks. The wine is finally bottled by gravity, with very light filtration.
