Tasting
Appearance
The robe reveals a pale gold hue graced with green highlights in its youth, evolving towards a soft golden tone.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet blends citrus notes, such as lemon and orange blossom, with orchard fruit aromas like apple and pear. Touches of hazelnut, fresh butter and a chalky minerality complete this complex nose.
Palate
Endowed with a fleshy texture, the palate stands out for its energy and beautiful acidic tension. The long, structured finish confirms the refined profile of this white wine.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with white meats, savoury soufflés or a boudin blanc. It also perfectly accompanies seafood coated in a beurre blanc sauce, as well as semi-hard cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
Endowed with a beautiful structure, this Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Vignes Blanches" 2024 is a wine built for cellaring that will gain complexity over the years.
The pure, biodynamic expression of a great Pouilly-Fuissé terroir
The estate
Founded in 1945 in Fuissé, Domaine Cordier Père et Fils has established itself as an essential reference in Burgundy, in the Mâconnais. Led since 2012 by Christophe Cordier, this family-run estate tends a vineyard of 31.5 hectares spread over more than 120 plots. Exclusively dedicated to Chardonnay, the domaine distinguishes itself through its highly precise plot-by-plot approach and its modern gravity-flow facilities. Committed to respecting the living world, the estate has taken a major step forward with the organic and biodynamic certification of all its wines from the 2024 vintage onwards.
The vineyard
This Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Vignes Blanches" 2024 comes from a 1.80-hectare lieu-dit, divided into seven small plots. The vines, aged between 35 and 80 years old, flourish on a steep east-facing slope overlooking the village of Fuissé. The terroir is composed of clay-limestone soils and white marls rich in fossils. Vineyard management is extremely rigorous: short Guyot pruning, arched cane bending, shoot weaving to preserve the canopy, and soil work using animal traction. Yields are deliberately limited to 20 hectolitres per hectare.
Winemaking and aging
The harvest is carried out by hand, plot by plot. The whole bunches undergo a gentle pressing in a small pneumatic press before being transferred by gravity. Fermentations start naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. The ageing of this Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Vignes Blanches" 2024 takes place over a long period on full original lees, first in 350-litre French oak barrels, then in stainless steel tanks. Finally, bottling is carried out by gravity, without any fining and with a very light filtration in order to preserve the integrity of the wine.
