A Saint-Joseph Blanc of remarkable elegance
The estate
Established at the end of the 19th century by Antonin and Jean-Auguste Coursodon, the Domaine Coursodon is a benchmark of the Saint-Joseph appellation in the Rhône Valley. Based in Mauves, the historic cradle of the appellation, this family estate has passed down its expertise for five generations.
The vineyard
The vineyard for this Saint-Joseph cuvée lies on a terroir composed equally of clay and granite. The parcels benefit from a south-southeast exposure on hillsides where all mechanization is impossible, requiring entirely manual work. Treatments are applied using a backpack sprayer.
Winemaking and aging
The Silice Blanc 2023 harvest is carried out by hand, with the grapes transported in 40-kilogram crates as whole bunches. A first sorting is done directly in the vineyard, followed by a second sorting on a table upon arrival. The grapes then undergo gentle, long pneumatic pressing. The juice runs off by gravity before settling. Natural alcoholic fermentation takes place at 18°C in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is carried through to completion.
Grape variety
This white wine from the Rhône Valley is made from 100% marsanne.
