Domaine de Cambes 2022

What a bouquet—smoky, cool, exquisitely spicy, with red and dark berries, lush cherry fruit, herbs; a soft opening, then it grips, massive tannins, very good quality, crisp, with verve, drive, and great length. An excellently crafted wine that should really open up with 10 years of bottle age.

Perfumed and floral, still concentrated with fully ripe black fruits too. Smells heady and powerful. Supple and clean, this has a juicy blackcurrant core with well-textured, powdery, chewy tannins that give liquorice, sweet cedar and caramel toast flavours. Round with nice energy and purity. Intense and concentrated, really aromatic but still with mouthwatering acidity and some juicy herbal and liquorice-edged raspberry flavours. Ends cool with stony touches.

Floral, licorice, chocolate-mint, plum, and crushed stone notes rise from the nose. On the palate, the wine is round, juicy, and vibrant, with loads of ripe plums, cherries, and cocoa on the finish. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2027–2038.

The 2022 Domaine De Cambes is stunning, exhibiting a deep ruby/purple hue as well as brilliant notes of blackcurrants, graphite, crushed stone, and smoky oak. Medium to full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, with serious depth and elegance, it has the depth and structure to age beautifully for 20+ years.
