    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Gevrey-Chambertin Village "La Justice" 2024 Domaine de la Vougeraie

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful garnet hue.

    Nose
Deep and expressive, the nose reveals aromas of red and black fruits such as cherry and blackberry, enhanced by delicate woody and spicy notes. Over time, it evolves toward more animal-like nuances reminiscent of musk and fur.

    Palate
Full and velvety, the palate reveals a fine structure supported by delicate tannins. The whole offers a lovely balance that extends into a persistent finish, marked by the return of the fruity notes perceived on the nose.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This red wine pairs wonderfully with rich, slow-cooked dishes such as beef bourguignon, coq au vin or leg of lamb. It also goes beautifully with roasted poultry and matured cheeses, with the exception of blue cheeses.

    Service and Storage

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve the Gevrey-Chambertin Village "La Justice" 2024 at a temperature between 13 and 14°C in its youth, and around 16 to 17°C after a few years in the cellar. This wine can be enjoyed now, but will continue to develop until around 2039.

The Authentic Expression of a Gevrey-Chambertin Red Wine by Domaine de la Vougeraie

    The Estate

Officially founded in 1999 in Premeaux-Prissey, France, Domaine de la Vougeraie draws its roots from a family history that began in 1964. Now led by Nathalie and Jean-Charles Boisset, this estate in Burgundy spans 44 hectares across 72 plots. A pioneer in sustainable development, the estate has built a solid reputation through its early commitment to organic farming, followed by biodynamics. This philosophy, centred on respecting living soils, allows the estate to produce wines that faithfully reflect the diversity and richness of their terroirs of origin.

    The Vineyard

The "La Justice" cuvée comes from a 0.66-hectare plot located on the alluvial fan of the Combe de Lavaux, to the east of Gevrey-Chambertin. Planted in the mid-1960s, these old vines benefit from a highly draining soil, rich in gravel and small stones. Cultivated according to biodynamic principles with a high planting density, this specific terroir encourages deep rooting and produces grapes of remarkable concentration.

    The Vintage

2024 was marked by particularly demanding climatic conditions. Strong disease pressure, notably from downy mildew, required constant attention and numerous interventions in the vineyard. Rainfall, although close to the annual average, was concentrated during critical periods. These challenges led to a drastic drop in yields, requiring extremely rigorous sorting at harvest to retain only the healthiest fruit.

    Winemaking and Aging

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, followed by careful selection of the bunches. The winemaking of the Gevrey-Chambertin Village "La Justice" 2024 is tailored to the plot, combining time-honoured methods with modern techniques to respect the identity of the site. The process aims to extract the fruit gently in order to preserve the finesse of the tannins and the natural elegance of the fruit.

    Grape Variety

    100% Pinot Noir.
