    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Puligny-Montrachet 2023 Domaine de la Vougeraie

    Tasting notes

    Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful pale yellow hue with light golden reflections.

    Nose
The nose opens with delicate aromas of white flowers, such as acacia, mingled with notes of citrus and white-fleshed fruits such as apple and pear. Subtle mineral touches evoking flint intertwine with buttery and honeyed nuances that emerge with aeration.

    Palate
On the palate, the wine offers a silky, precise texture, combining lovely opulence with great freshness. Flavours of orchard fruits (peach, nectarine) and citrus (lemon, grapefruit) harmonise with a chalky minerality. The finish is long, balanced and harmonious.

    Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with grilled white-fleshed fish (turbot, halibut, sole) or seafood such as scallops, langoustines and oysters. It also pairs perfectly with poultry in creamy mushroom sauce, particularly morels, as well as fresh goat cheese.

    Service and storage

This Puligny-Montrachet 2023 has a fine structure that allows it to be kept and enjoyed until around 2043.

The elegance and precision of a Puligny-Montrachet white wine

    The estate

Officially founded in 1999 by Jean-Charles Boisset, Domaine de la Vougeraie brings together the prestigious plots acquired by the Boisset family since 1964. Located in Premeaux-Prissey, at the heart of Burgundy, the estate now spans approximately 44 to 52 hectares. Still owned by the founding family, the domaine has been run since 2002 by Sylvie Poillot. A true regional benchmark, it stands out as the largest producer certified in organic and biodynamic farming in the Côte d'Or, crafting wines that express the full purity of their terroirs.

    The vineyard

The grapes for this Puligny-Montrachet come from three distinct plots (La Rue aux Vaches, Noyer Bret and Aux Paupillots) totalling 1.06 hectares. Facing east, these vines benefit from ideal morning sunlight and grow on deep soils composed of brown clay and limestone. All these plots are cultivated according to the rigorous principles of biodynamics, fostering biodiversity and soil health.

    The vintage

The year 2023 offered generous conditions, allowing satisfactory volumes to be harvested. Despite some disparities in fruit ripeness depending on the plot, this vintage stands out for its remarkable grape quality and optimal health.

    Winemaking and aging

After manual harvesting in small crates and meticulous sorting, the whole clusters undergo gentle pneumatic pressing. The must is then naturally clarified by gravity during a twelve-hour settling process. Fermentation of this Puligny-Montrachet 2023 takes place in oak barrels (approximately 27% new oak) with regular lees stirring. Aging continues for 12 to 18 months, followed by two months in stainless steel tanks before final blending and bottling.
