The elegance and finesse of a Premier Cru from Savigny-Les-Beaune

    The estate

Officially founded in 1999, Domaine de la Vougeraie is located in Premeaux-Prissey, in the heart of Burgundy. Although the family's winemaking roots date back to 1964, it was at the dawn of the 2000s that the estate took on its current form. Now led by Jean-Charles Boisset, with Sylvie Poillot as General Manager, the estate stands out for its pioneering commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture. Spanning 34 hectares between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, this family-run house crafts wines that faithfully express the richness of their terroirs.

    The vineyard

The terroir from which this Savigny-Les-Beaune originates lies on the right bank of the Rhoin, on a gentle hillside. The vines of the "Les Marconnets" cuvée, planted between 1975 and 1986, thrive on deep, very sandy soil, dotted with pebbles and rich in iron, with a slight presence of clay and silt. This unusual geological composition gives the vine great vitality, particularly in wetter years. The estate applies biodynamic principles here, with controlled yields and entirely manual harvesting.

    The vintage

2024 was marked by particularly complex weather conditions. Abundant rainfall, reaching nearly the annual average by September alone, was accompanied by localized episodes of frost and hail. These climatic challenges led to significant fungal pressure throughout the growing season. However, strong sunshine at the end of the season allowed the berries to reach optimal ripeness, leading to a late harvest at the end of September.

    Winemaking and aging

The winemaking of the Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Marconnets" 2024 is carried out with whole-cluster grapes, gravity-fed into the vat without crushing. A cold pre-fermentation maceration is carried out for five days, followed by a total vatting period of twenty days marked by manual punching down and gentle daily pumping-over, all driven by indigenous yeasts. After passing through the vertical press, the wine undergoes aging of around 16 months in French oak barrels.
