An expressive and delicate Chambolle-Musigny from Domaine Denis Mortet

The Estate
Founded in 1956 by Charles Mortet in Gevrey-Chambertin, and later directed by his son Denis from 1993, the Burgundian estate Denis Mortet now spans 16 hectares across Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Marsannay, and Fixin. Since 2006, it has been led by Arnaud Mortet alongside his mother Laurence and his sister Clémence, and the estate includes prestigious parcels such as the Grands Crus Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares, and Mazis-Chambertin.

The Vineyard
This cuvée of Chambolle-Musigny comes from a 23-are plot located in the lower part of the village, benefiting from an eastern exposure. The terroir is characterized by a light, calcareous soil enriched with white marls and covered by a thin stony layer on the surface that ensures excellent drainage. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, are managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture with exclusive organic amendments and mechanical soil work.

The Vintage
The 2022 vintage in Burgundy was marked by particular climatic conditions, with an early spring followed by a hot, dry summer. These conditions favored optimal ripening of Pinot Noir, resulting in wines with beautiful aromatic concentration while preserving the characteristic freshness of the Chambolle-Musigny appellation.

Winemaking and Aging
The grapes for the Chambolle-Musigny "Les Beaux Bruns" 2022 are hand-harvested in small crates and undergo rigorous sorting. Partially destemmed, they ferment exclusively with indigenous yeasts, with very moderate pump-overs and punch-downs to preserve the fruit's finesse. Aging takes place over 18 months in oak barrels, divided between 60% new barrels and 40% once-used barrels, providing structure and complexity without masking the expression of the terroir.
