An American Chardonnay from Oregon combining purity and elegance

    The estate

On a trip to the United States in 1961, Robert Drouhin, the third generation of his family, discovered the Oregon vineyard and its wines. A few years later, and after earning her degree in oenology, his daughter Véronique settled in Oregon to work the vines with three pioneering winemaking families within the vast Dundee Hills appellation.
In 1987, Robert Drouhin decided to purchase his first plots within this appellation.

For over 30 years, Véronique Drouhin and her brother Philippe have passionately produced natural wines under the Domaine Drouhin label, renowned for their quality and refinement.

    The vineyard

The Arthur vineyard is located in the Dundee Hills of the Willamette Valley, exclusively cultivated on the family estate. Named after Véronique Drouhin's son, this terroir benefits from early-ripening vines and low yields. The estate is certified "Low Input Viticulture Environment", demonstrating its commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture.

    Winemaking and ageing

The grapes for Chardonnay Arthur 2023 are hand-harvested in small 12 kg bins before being pressed as whole clusters. The winemaking combines two approaches: partial fermentation in French oak barrels to bring complexity through slow micro-oxygenation, and partial fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve vitality and fruit. The final blend marries these two elements, creating a style that combines the purity of Chablis with the elegance of Meursault.
