An Exceptional American Pinot Noir from the Dundee Hills in Oregon

    The Estate

During a trip to the United States in 1961, Robert Drouhin, the third generation of the family, discovered the Oregon vineyard and its wines. A few years later, after receiving her oenology degree, his daughter Véronique settled in Oregon to work the vines with three pioneering winemaking families within the vast Dundee Hills appellation.
It was in 1987 that Robert Drouhin decided to purchase his first plots within this appellation.

For over 30 years, Véronique Drouhin and her brother Philippe have passionately produced natural wines under the Domaine Drouhin label, recognized for their quality and refinement.

    The Vineyard

The vines are planted in the Dundee Hills of the Willamette Valley in Oregon. The estate practices sustainable viticulture certified "Low Input Viticulture Environment". This cuvée bears the name Laurène, the eldest daughter of Véronique Boss-Drouhin, reflecting the family's attachment to this exceptional terroir.

    The Vintage

The 2022 vintage began with optimism after a mild winter and an early bud break in April. An unprecedented Arctic air mass then brought snow and sub-zero temperatures, causing the first frost ever recorded on the vineyard. The cool, wet conditions slowed vine growth by 2 to 4 weeks until June. Fortunately, abundant sunshine and above-average temperatures late in the season enabled harmonious ripening and excellent berry quality, despite lower yields.

    Winemaking and Aging

The grapes for the Laurène Pinot Noir 2022 are hand-harvested in small crates, then destemmed before fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place in French oak barrels with 20% new oak, selected by Véronique in Beaune. This barrel selection brings complexity, length, and depth to the final wine.
