An Aloxe-Corton 1er cru from the Corton hill, crafted by Domaine du Château de Meursault
The estate
Domaine du Château de Meursault, located in the heart of Burgundy, in Meursault, has belonged to the Halley family since December 2012, represented by Olivier Halley. Its modern vineyard configuration dates back to 1973, the year André Boisseaux took over. Today, the estate covers 67 hectares farmed organically, spread across around a hundred plots among grands crus, premiers crus and village appellations of the Côte de Beaune, producing red and white wines in equal proportions.
The vineyard
This Aloxe-Corton 1er cru "Les Maréchaudes" 2025 comes from a micro-plot of 70 ares of Pinot Noir, located at the bottom of the slope at the foot of the Corton hill. The clay-limestone soil and south-easterly exposure provide conditions conducive to a balance between ripeness and freshness. Like the rest of the estate's vineyard, this plot in Aloxe-Corton is farmed organically.
The vintage
The 2025 vintage is currently still maturing, with the wine being sold en primeur before bottling.
Winemaking and maturation
For this Aloxe-Corton 1er cru "Les Maréchaudes" 2025, the Pinot Noir grapes are harvested by hand into small perforated crates, then rigorously sorted optically. The winemaking favors a gentle, steady alcoholic fermentation, with pumping over rather than punching down, in order to extract fine tannins. After a long maceration, the wine is aged in oak barrels in the estate's historic winery, fully renovated between 2020 and 2022.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
