The Elegance and Mineral Precision of a Great Burgundy Wine

    The Estate

Founded in 1032, the Domaine du Château de Meursault is a true institution in Burgundy. Spanning 67 hectares, the estate has experienced a renaissance since its acquisition in 2012 by the Halley family, led by Olivier Halley. Under this new impetus, the estate has shifted towards organic viticulture, certified in 2022, and favours a minimal-intervention approach. Recently crowned "Winery of the Year" for France at the London Wine Competition 2025, the estate now ranks among the region's elite.

    The Vineyard

This cuvée comes from the "Fèves" climat, a historic terroir within the Beaune Premier Cru appellation. The estate cultivates a small 0.61-hectare plot here, ideally located mid-slope with full south-facing exposure. The vines thrive on clay-limestone soils dotted with gravel and sand, offering optimal drainage while preserving the freshness needed for the proper development of the growing cycle.

    The Vintage

2023 began with a mild, wet spring, followed by hot, stormy months of June and July. After a humid start to August, a providential heatwave in mid-August allowed the berries to reach full ripeness while cleansing the vineyard, leading to an early, concentrated harvest.

    Winemaking and Aging

After manual harvesting and rigorous optical sorting, the grapes destined for this Beaune 1er Cru "Fèves" 2023 are destemmed. A 15- to 18-day cold maceration precedes alcoholic fermentation punctuated by punching down and pumping over. The wine is then aged for 15 to 18 months, with around a third in new French oak barrels, the remainder split between once- or twice-used barrels and stainless steel tanks.
