    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Bourgogne Chardonnay Joseph Faiveley 2023 from Domaine Faiveley

    Tasting

    Appearance
A beautiful golden hue, reminiscent of deep straw, adorns this wine and reveals a lovely ripeness of the fruit.

    Nose
Highly expressive, the bouquet unveils delicate aromas of white flowers intertwined with fruity notes of green apple, peach, lemon and apricot. Subtle touches of vanilla, butter and cream, drawn from its time in oak, elegantly enrich this aromatic palette.

    Palate
The attack is generous and ample, opening onto a medium-bodied palate with an almost creamy texture. The balance is remarkable, supported by a beautiful mineral framework and moderate acidity, extending toward a finish of exceptional persistence for this appellation.

    Food and wine pairings

This white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood, oysters or grilled salmon. It also accompanies white meats such as roast poultry or veal beautifully, as well as cow's milk cheeses such as Époisses. To conclude the meal, it will elevate a peach or apple tart.

    Serving and cellaring

This wine is particularly enjoyable in its youth and can be savoured now, or kept until around 2026.

An ample and refined white wine from Burgundy

    The estate

Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is a true institution. Spanning 120 hectares across the region's finest terroirs, the estate is now led by the seventh generation, represented by Eve and Erwan Faiveley. Combining respect for tradition with a contemporary vision, the estate stands out for its environmental commitment, crowned by the achievement of organic farming certification in 2025, the year of its bicentenary.

    The vineyard

This Burgundy wine is the result of a meticulous selection of parcels spread across the estate's various terroirs. The vines flourish on limestone-rich soils, offering a lovely diversity of microclimates that give the wine all its complexity and minerality.

    The vintage

The 2023 vintage stands out as one of exceptional quality in the region. Despite occasionally unsettled weather during the growing season, a particularly radiant late summer allowed the berries to reach optimal physiological ripeness while preserving a lovely freshness.

    Winemaking and aging

The crafting of this wine follows the purest regional tradition. The wine benefits from ageing on fine lees in French oak barrels for eight to ten months, promoting the development of its creamy texture and aromatic complexity.

    Grape variety

This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay.
