Domaine Guffens-Heynen : Pouilly-Fuissé Village "Les Trois C." 2024

Julien Desplans, winemaker for Guffens-Heynen, describes this as a ‘tour of the rock of Vergisson'. It is an assemblage of grapes from three lieux-dits: La Côte, En Carmentrant and Les Crays. The result is sublime, with pronounced aromas of Mirabelle plum, ripe pear, acacia flower, an edge of smoky reduction and a hint of spice. The texture is lush and dense, but not heavy, with enough acidity to balance everything. Ideally, open this wine in 10 years and drink it over the next 20 that follow.

Among the more voluptuous wines, the 2024 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Trois C.—a blend of La Côte, Les Carmentrans and Les Crays—reveals aromas of peach, mirabelle plum and lemon confit mingled with notes of pastry. Medium- to full-bodied, the palate is ample and fleshy, laden with succulent acidity and with a generous core of fruit.
