    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Meursault 2024 from Domaine Henri Boillot

    Tasting notes

    Colour
A brilliant yellow hue appears in the glass, illuminated by subtle green highlights.

    Nose
With great precision, the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of fresh white fruit such as apple and pear. It is then enriched with delicate floral touches, complemented by subtle buttery and hazelnut nuances.

    Palate
Full-bodied and perfectly balanced, the palate stands out with lovely mineral energy and structuring tension. The finish proves persistent, refined and delicately saline.

    Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with fine fish (turbot, sole, halibut), shellfish such as grilled lobster or langoustine, as well as poultry in cream sauce. It will also enhance washed-rind cheeses like Époisses or aged pressed cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère.

    Service and storage

This 2024 vintage will reveal its full potential from 2026 and can be cellared until around 2033.

The elegance and mineral precision of a Meursault white wine

    The estate

Founded in 1885, Domaine Henri Boillot is a key reference in Burgundy. Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, the estate tends a 19-hectare vineyard, of which 7 hectares are dedicated to white grape varieties. Today, the domaine is run by Henri Boillot, an expert in white winemaking, and his son Guillaume, who oversees the vines and the red wines. Known for its minimal-intervention approach and sustainable viticulture, the domaine stands out for its early harvests and controlled yields, resulting in wines of remarkable purity.

    The vineyard

The grapes behind this wine come from various plots representative of the Meursault appellation, located at an altitude of around 260 metres. Facing east and south, these vines, some of which are over 60 years old, benefit from optimal sunlight exposure. They thrive on clay-limestone soils composed of Jurassic marls and magnesian limestone. The vineyard is planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare and is cultivated mechanically, without chemical herbicides.

    The vintage

In 2024, France experienced very favourable climatic conditions in this terroir. The growing season was marked by pleasant coolness and a gradual ripening of the berries, allowing the grapes in the region to reach an excellent level of quality.

    Winemaking and aging

The harvest is carried out by hand. In the cellar, whole clusters are gently pressed using a vertical press. Vinification takes place without any lees stirring in order to preserve the expression of the terroir. Aging lasts a maximum of 10 to 12 months in 350-litre oak barrels, combining new and one-year-old wood. Finally, the wine is bottled without prior fining or filtration.

    Grape variety

    Chardonnay (100%).
