The freshness and authenticity of a white wine from the Languedoc

    The estate

Located in the Languedoc, Domaine Léon Barral was officially founded in 1993 by Didier Barral, representing the thirteenth generation of winegrowers in his family. This roughly thirty-hectare estate is a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture. Under the leadership of Didier Barral, the current owner, the estate stands out for its unique agroecological approach, integrating animals into the heart of the vines to preserve the ecosystem. Domaine Léon Barral is today an essential reference for lovers of natural wines.

    The vineyard

This white wine, produced under the IGP Pays de l'Hérault, comes from a plot of old, co-planted vines. The vineyard flourishes under a Mediterranean climate, on poor, mineral-rich soils composed mainly of brown and blue schist, as well as clay, sandstone and limestone. The vines are pruned in goblet form to protect them from the sun. Biodiversity thrives here, supported by the presence of earthworms and the absence of destructive mechanical work.

    The vintage

The 2024 growing season unfolded under the classic influence of the region's Mediterranean climate, marked by strong sunshine and periods of summer heat.

    Winemaking and aging

The grapes for the Domaine Léon Barral 2024 are harvested entirely by hand, followed by rigorous sorting. The bunches undergo a short maceration of three to four hours in the press. Fermentation takes place by gravity in cement vats, relying exclusively on indigenous yeasts. Aging continues in neutral cement and stainless steel vessels. The wine is neither racked, nor fined, nor filtered.

    Grape varieties

This wine is a blend of white and grey terret (80%), Viognier (10%) and Roussanne (10%).
