    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Bourgogne Côte d'Or "Pinot Noir" 2023

    Tasting notes

    Colour
With beautiful brilliance, this wine reveals a pale, delicate ruby hue.

    Nose
Bright and complex, the bouquet reveals aromas of ripe black and red fruits such as black cherry, plum and wild strawberry. It is enriched with notes of liquorice, floral touches reminiscent of peony and iris, along with subtle mineral and undergrowth nuances.

    Palate
The palate offers superb balance, with a medium body and a silky texture. The tannins are supple, supported by a refreshing acidity that carries the fruity flavours with clarity. The finish is persistent, energetic and delicately mineral.

    Service and storage

To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. Approachable now, it has the structure needed to age in the cellar until around 2031.

    Food and wine pairing

In its youth, this wine pairs wonderfully with white meats such as roast poultry, or beef carpaccio with parmesan. After a few years of ageing, it will beautifully complement slow-cooked dishes such as beef bourguignon or œufs en meurette.

    The estate

Based in Meursault, the Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils embodies viticultural excellence through a family heritage spanning seven generations. While the family's tradition dates back nearly two centuries, the estate experienced its modern growth in the 1970s. Since 1999, Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau has been at the helm of the estate. The domaine stands out for its respectful approach to the terroir, favouring wines of great purity.

    The vineyard

This wine comes from carefully selected plots spread across the villages of Meursault and its surroundings. The vines, averaging thirty-five years of age, thrive on typical clay-limestone soils. The vineyard is cultivated using environmentally friendly methods, with mechanical soil work and entirely hand-picked harvests.

    The vintage

The year 2023 began with an ideal flowering in June, followed by a summer with moderate temperatures. A sudden weather shift occurred in late August with a heatwave, accelerating berry ripening. Welcome rains at the end of August helped avoid water stress. The harvest took place quickly and during the cooler hours of the day, preserving a lovely freshness.

    Winemaking and aging

The grapes are destemmed before undergoing fermentation guided by indigenous yeasts. The wine then benefits from ageing in traditional oak barrels. The proportion of new oak is deliberately kept moderate to allow the terroir to fully express itself and to avoid masking the delicacy of the fruit.

    Grape variety

    Pinot Noir (100%).
