    Decanter

This domaine wine, a touch heftier than Parent’s Monthélie, displays the same alluring glossiness and succulent black fruit. A captivating not-just-fruit element and a seductive hint of bitterness on the finish add to its appeal. La Corvée, the northernmost premier cru vineyard in the Côte de Beaune, borders the Côte de Nuits.

    Description

The Elegance and Mineral Precision of a Wine from Ladoix

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Ladoix 1er Cru "La Corvée" 2022 Domaine Parent

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a hue ranging from garnet to ruby, enhanced by delicate violet highlights and beautiful translucency.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of red and black fruits, evoking cherry, redcurrant and wild strawberry, intimately intertwined with floral touches of iris and peony. With aeration, a mineral and saline dimension emerges, complemented by subtle sweet spices such as cinnamon and clove.

    Palate
Medium to full-bodied, the palate seduces with its balance and refinement. The silky, finely powdery tannins offer a very pleasant velvety texture. Beautiful acidity brings freshness and supports a lingering finish, marked by aromas of cherry, minerals and light spices.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This red wine pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, duck or feathered game. It also goes very well with delicate meats such as veal or rabbit, dishes based on creamy mushrooms, as well as Burgundian soft or semi-hard cheeses such as Reblochon, Vacherin or Cîteaux.

    Service and Storage

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this Ladoix 1er Cru "La Corvée" 2022 at a temperature of between 15 and 16°C. Decanting can prove beneficial to open up the aromatic palette of bottles that have aged. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth but will continue to develop favourably in the cellar until around 2035.

    The Estate

Officially founded in 1803 in Pommard, Domaine Parent is a historic figure of Burgundy. This vineyard of around ten hectares is now run by Anne Parent, representing the twelfth generation, with the progressive integration of her niece Constance Fages-Parent. Pioneering and committed, the estate has been certified organic since 2013 and applies the principles of biodynamics. The domaine stands out for its respectful approach to terroir and the production of wines combining finesse and purity, recognised for centuries, including by Thomas Jefferson.

    The Vineyard

The "La Corvée" climat is a Premier Cru of the Ladoix appellation, located at the northern gateway to the Côte de Beaune. This vineyard of around 31.5 hectares benefits from a south-east, mid-slope exposure, at an altitude ranging from 230 to 325 metres. The vines flourish on shallow soils with a strong clay dominance, dotted with stones and resting on a bedrock of Comblanchien limestone. The soil is worked mechanically with the help of horses to preserve the soil structure.

    The Vintage

The year 2022 was marked by a particularly hot and dry summer. However, a saving rainy spell at the end of June helped replenish the soil's water reserves, thus avoiding excessive water stress for the vines. These weather conditions favoured a simultaneous and optimal ripening of sugars and tannins. Harvesting began early, on 31 August, in order to preserve all the freshness and acidity of the berries.

    Winemaking and Aging

The winemaking of the Ladoix 1er Cru "La Corvée" 2022 favours a low-intervention approach. After manual harvesting and meticulous sorting on a vibrating table, fermentation begins thanks to indigenous yeasts and lasts between ten and twenty days, accompanied by measured punching down and pumping over. The proportion of whole clusters was reduced for this vintage. Aging then takes place for 14 to 18 months in 228-litre French oak barrels, with around 33% new oak.

    Grape Variety

    Pinot Noir.
