    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for Domaine Peyre Rose "Belle Leone" 2015

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a deep ruby red hue, dense and brilliant, with subtle garnet reflections at the rim.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves complex and seductive, blending scents of well-ripened black fruits such as blackberry and plum with floral and spicy notes of clove and black pepper. Mineral touches, along with tapenade, garrigue, verbena and peppermint, enrich this palette, underscored by very discreet oak.

    Palate
On the palate, this red wine offers a dense, concentrated texture, supported by fine, perfectly integrated tannins. It reveals generous flavours of stewed black fruits and wild herbs, accompanied by smoky and earthy nuances. The finish, of remarkable persistence, lingers on silky notes of oriental spices and tobacco.

    Food and wine pairing

This characterful wine pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as beef stew, red meats, lamb or roast free-range poultry. It will also complement a board of aged hard cheeses, such as Comté, as well as vegetable dishes prepared with Mediterranean herbs.

    Service and storage

Endowed with exceptional ageing potential, the "Belle Leone" 2015 can be enjoyed until around 2037.

    Other characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of 14.5%.

The authentic and complex expression of a great Languedoc wine

    The estate

Founded in the late 1970s by Marlène Soria, the current owner, Domaine Peyre Rose has become a true icon of the Languedoc. Located in Saint-Pargoire, the estate spans a vineyard of 24 to 30 hectares. Born from a personal project, the brand has established itself through an uncompromising philosophy, favouring limited yields and extremely long ageing periods before release. Entirely self-sufficient in energy, the estate stands out for its environmentally respectful approach and its commitment to producing authentic wines that reflect the purity of their terroir with minimal intervention.

    The vineyard

Perched at around 200 metres above sea level on the Peyrals plateau, the terroir enjoys a Mediterranean climate swept by the mistral. The vines grow amid wild garrigue, on stony, friable clay-limestone soils that encourage deep rooting. This Vin de France is cultivated according to the principles of organic farming and biodynamics, ensuring a natural expression fully preserved from its environment.

    The vintage

The year 2015 was marked by a dry winter, offset by the substantial water reserves accumulated during the previous winter. Spring, warm and mild, provided excellent conditions for flowering. Summer then brought moderate heat, punctuated by cool nights that allowed the vines to maintain a fine balance. Harvesting took place under ideal Indian summer conditions, from early to late September.

    Winemaking and ageing

A philosophy of minimal intervention guides the making of the "Belle Leone" 2015. After a natural cold maceration, fermentation begins spontaneously through indigenous yeasts and unfolds slowly over nearly three weeks. The ageing process stands out for its exceptional length: the wine rests for almost ten years in large wooden vessels, such as foudres and vats, followed by a brief three-month passage in barrels, before continuing its slow maturation in bottle.
