The elegance and purity of an Alsace white wine by Domaine Trapet
The estate
Founded in 1870 by Louis Trapet in Burgundy, Domaine Trapet expanded with a vineyard in Alsace in 2002, under the impetus of Andrée Greyer-Trapet. Today, Jean-Louis and Andrée Trapet, supported by their sons Pierre and Louis, run this prestigious estate. True pioneers, they cultivate their land according to strict biodynamic principles. Enjoying international renown and awarded three stars by the RVF, the estate stands out for its commitment to conveying the authentic expression of its terroirs through wines of great elegance and remarkable purity.
The vineyard
Located in the famous village of Riquewihr in Alsace, the vineyard benefits from a cool climate ideally sheltered by the Vosges mountains. The vines are grown with the utmost respect for the environment, holding biodynamic certification. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, allowing for a rigorous selection of the best bunches directly on the vine.
The vintage
The year 2023 was marked by sometimes unpredictable and demanding weather conditions. This growing cycle required constant attention and meticulous vineyard management. Thanks to rigorous work and a precise choice of harvest date, the grapes harvested were able to reach optimal balance.
Winemaking and aging
The making of the RQWR Riesling 2023 is based on a minimal-intervention philosophy. After careful manual sorting, fermentation includes a portion of whole bunches. Extractions are carried out very gently. Aging favours the use of large casks and concrete eggs rather than small barrels, encouraging measured oxidative development that preserves the brightness of the fruit without marking the wine with woody aromas.
