    Description

The suppleness and aromatic richness of a Chianti Classico wine by Felsina

    The estate

In 1966, Domenico Poggiali acquired the Fèlsina estate, at a time when Tuscany was undergoing a real wine revolution with the Super Tuscans. Located in the south-east of the historic Chianti Classico and Crete Senesi area in the province of Siena, the Fèlsina estate extends over almost 600 hectares, 95 of which are planted with vines, bringing together all the great terroirs that make up Tuscany's charm and reputation. The philosophy of the Fèlsina estate is based on simple values: to reveal the expression of the Tuscan terroir and grape varieties in Italian wines that reflect history and tradition.

    The vineyard

Berardenga Riserva 2019 is a Chianti Classico wine from vineyards located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, northeast of Siena. Almost exclusively southwest-facing, they stretch across windy slopes at an altitude of 320 to 420 metres above sea level. In the higher parts, the soil is predominantly quartz rock. Limestone mixed with alluvium, sandstone and silt, as well as layers of pebbles, characterise the vineyards on the edge of the Colli Senesi towards the Crete Senesi.

    The wine

Berardenga Riserva is a wine made only in the best vintages to celebrate the harmony of Sangiovese which comes from different vineyards.

    Winemaking and ageing

After the harvest, which took place during the first three weeks of October, the grapes were taken to the cellar to begin the vinification process. The grapes were destemmed and pressed, then fermented and macerated in stainless steel vats for 14 to 16 days at a temperature of 28 to 30 degrees. Daily punching of the cap and pumping over were carried out. Around March and April, the wine fermented in Slavic oak barrels and French oak barrels of two or three wines for 12 to 16 months. Lastly, the final blend was made and the wine aged in the bottle for 3-6 months.

    Blend

    Sangiovese (100%).
