An authentic Brunello di Montalcino between tradition and terroir

    The property

Gianni Brunelli is an emblematic wine estate of Montalcino, founded by Gianni Brunelli in 1987 after the acquisition of "Le Chiuse di Sotto", a family heritage dating back to 1947. The estate extends over 7 hectares, divided between two sites: Le Chiuse di Sotto, at 250 meters altitude, and Podernovone, at 520 meters. Since Gianni's death in 2008, his wife Laura and cousin Adriano have been running the property, perpetuating traditional practices.

    The vineyard

The Brunello di Montalcino comes from two distinct vineyards: Podernovone, located at 500 meters altitude with a southwest exposure (planted in 1998) and Canalicchio at 250 meters altitude with a northwest exposure (planted in 1989). The soils are composed of galestro, marly schist limestone and white clay.

    Vinification and aging

For the Brunello di Montalcino 2020, vinification begins with a maceration and fermentation of 23 days, followed by an aging of 30 months in 25-30 HL oak barrels before bottling.
