Characteristics and tasting tips for the Great House Distillery Edition 2024 by Hampden Estate
Tasting
Nose
Broad and tense, this Jamaican rum subtly blends mint, ripe mango, and dry earth, before evolving towards delicious notes of quince jelly, blackberry jams, and orange marmalade.
Palate
Lively and precise, this palate opens with an exotic burst of coconut, mango, and passion fruit. It offers a subtle balance between warm notes (chocolate, mint tea) and refreshing nuances. In the finish, it reveals a tonic richness marked by herbaceous accents evoking tobacco, peppery touches, and infusions of red fruits. The deliciousness blossoms with flavors of cranberry and raisins.

The distillery
Nestled in the heart of Trelawny, a coastal region of Jamaica bathed by the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, the Hampden distillery enjoys an exceptional natural environment. Not far from there, the Cockpit Country, a preserved natural sanctuary, is home to a rich biodiversity with its endemic birds and majestic butterflies. Although debates remain about the exact date of its foundation, an inscription at the threshold of the old master's house suggests "Circa 1753", a generally accepted date. In 2018, after a rich heritage of 265 years, Hampden proudly unveils its first aged rums.
The bottle
Resulting from three vintages, this sixth edition seduces with its minty freshness, its spicy exoticism, and its intense aromas of fruits and chocolate, evolving generously towards ever more delicious notes.
