Colour

Both opulent and elegant, the attack reveals a broad, velvety texture. Perfectly integrated and refined tannins lead into a long, dry finish with remarkable softness.

Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs beautifully with slow-cooked meats such as braised beef or wild boar stew. It will also enhance a fine cut of beef, such as a traditional bistecca alla fiorentina, as well as aged cheeses.

The estate
Located in the heart of Tuscany, between Florence and Arezzo, the modern wine estate of Il Borro was founded in 1993, when it was acquired by Ferruccio Ferragamo, its current owner. Set around a thousand-year-old medieval hamlet, this Italian estate covers 700 hectares, the vast majority of which is woodland that fosters biodiversity. Certified organic since 2015, the estate stands out for its circular economy approach. Family-run, Il Borro has established itself as a true global luxury brand, combining high-end hospitality with the production of world-renowned wines.

The vineyard
The vines used to produce this great IGT Toscana wine flourish in an unspoilt environment and are farmed entirely organically. The plots were the subject of a meticulous geological study so that each grape variety could be planted on the most suitable soil. The vineyard benefits from a virtuous approach based on the circular economy, in which natural resources are put to use to nourish the soils and maintain a perfect balance between the vines and the surrounding nature.

The vintage
The 2022 vintage in Tuscany was marked by a hot, dry climate. Although heavy rainfall occurred in August and September, it did not disrupt the smooth running of the harvest. These weather conditions mainly resulted in lower yields, while allowing the wines to develop a highly expressive character and great aromatic intensity.

Winemaking and ageing
After hand-harvesting into small 10 kg crates, vinification begins with fermentation in steel tanks. Ageing lasts a total of 24 months: the Merlot rests in 20-hectolitre French oak casks, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah mature in new and second-fill French oak barrels. The process concludes with six months of further ageing in steel tanks.
