The 2024 Rully Montmorin includes 10% new barrels, half in wood and the rest in stainless steel. This has a lilting nose with light mango and Clementine scents, well defined as usual. The palate is fresh on the entry with a keen line of acidity. There is a brightness to this Rully that I like, and it feels reassuringly precise on the finish.

    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Rully Village "Montmorin" 2024 by Jean Chartron

    Tasting notes

    Appearance
The wine reveals a beautiful pale yellow hue, enhanced by subtle green highlights.

    Nose
The nose opens with delicate floral notes reminiscent of jasmine and wallflower, harmoniously intertwined with citrus aromas such as clementine and stone fruits like mango. This bouquet gains complexity as it breathes.

    Palate
The attack is fresh and generous, offering beautiful textural richness. The mid-palate reveals a perfect balance between refreshing acidity and fruity flavours of white peach. The long, elegant finish is distinguished by pronounced minerality with saline and iodine accents.

    Food and wine pairings

This white wine pairs beautifully with seafood such as oysters, scallops or lobster, as well as white fish served with a beurre blanc sauce. It also enhances roasted poultry or dishes prepared with cream and mushrooms, not to mention fresh or soft cheeses typical of Burgundy.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this Rully Village "Montmorin" 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 11 and 13°C. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth, but will continue to develop its complexity until around 2030.

The refined, mineral expression of the Burgundian terroir of Rully

    The estate

Founded in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, Domaine Jean Chartron is a historic figure in Puligny-Montrachet, in Burgundy. Today, the fifth generation, embodied by Jean-Michel Chartron in charge of winemaking and Anne-Laure Chartron-Malassagne overseeing viticulture, tends to a 14.5-hectare vineyard. The estate stands out for its deep respect for the environment and its commitment to producing wines that reflect the purity and authenticity of their terroirs.

    The vineyard

Located within the Rully appellation, in the Côte Chalonnaise, the "Montmorin" climat rests on particularly well-drained clay-limestone soils. Benefiting from a favourable exposure and a moderate altitude allowing slow, progressive ripening of the berries, this terroir imparts to the wine its characteristic tension and minerality. The vines are tended with great care and the harvest is carried out by hand with rigorous sorting.

    Winemaking and aging

The winemaking of Rully Village "Montmorin" 2024 favours a natural approach. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, including a small proportion of new wood in order to preserve the identity of the terroir. The wine is then aged on fine lees, bringing richness and complexity, before a period of stabilisation in tanks to gently perfect the blend.
