The 2023 Fleurie comes from south-facing vines, the first to be picked within the “Champagne” lieu-dit. It has a little more fruit intensity than the Côte du Py, with raspberry, blackcurrant, allspice and a light hint of white pepper on the nose. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, gentle grip, sapid red fruit and a tightly coiled, mineral-laden finish. Superb.

The estate

Located in Villié-Morgon, in the heart of the Morgon appellation, Domaine Jean Foillard cultivates the prestigious terroirs of Côte du Py and Corcelette, as well as parcels in Fleurie. Jean Foillard took over the family estate of 8 hectares in 1981, inspired by Marcel Lapierre, to adopt natural viticulture and practices closely aligned with organic farming.

A pioneer of natural wine, the estate perpetuates a faithful and authentic style. Today, the estate spans 20 hectares and its wines, with rare precision, place it among the elite of Beaujolais.

The vineyard

Winemaking and aging

Manual harvest followed by cold maceration. Vatting for approximately 3 to 4 weeks. Aging in oak barrels on the lees for 6 to 9 months. Bottling without filtration.
