    Tasting notes

    Colour
The colour reveals a deep ruby red hue.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of ripe cherry, delicately spiced, complemented by touches of exotic wood and cigar.

    Palate
The palate stands out for its elegance and balance. It offers a velvety texture supported by perfectly integrated tannins and lovely acidity, stretching towards a long finish marked by aromas of candied fruit.

    Food and wine pairing

This red wine pairs wonderfully with feathered game such as pheasant, roasted beef cuts or veal in sauce. It also goes very well with braised lamb, poultry glazed with sweet spices, as well as characterful soft cheeses.

    Service and storage

To fully appreciate this Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 16°C. This wine, built for ageing, can be kept in the cellar to develop until around 2052.

The elegance and complexity of a Grand Cru from Burgundy

    The estate

Founded in 1880 in Beaune, France, Maison Joseph Drouhin is an emblematic figure of Burgundy. This historic estate oversees a vineyard of around 100 hectares. Currently led by the fourth generation, with Frédéric Drouhin as president, supported by Philippe, Véronique and Laurent, the estate stands out for its pioneering commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture. The domaine skilfully combines its heritage as a négociant with its status as an estate grower to express the authenticity of its terroirs.

    The vineyard

Clos Saint-Denis is a historic terroir of the Côte de Nuits, located in the commune of Morey-Saint-Denis. Facing due east, at an altitude ranging between 220 and 270 metres, the vines thrive on soils of brown limestone resting on layers from the Middle Jurassic, scattered with flint fragments. At the foot of the slope, the soil is enriched with clay and phosphorus, giving the grapes remarkable minerality and finesse.

    The vintage

The year 2022 was marked by warm weather conditions, favouring excellent ripening of the berries. Although yields were lower than in previous years, this growing cycle produced grapes of great concentration while preserving the freshness typical of the region.

    Winemaking and ageing

The Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru 2022 is harvested by hand using perforated crates. After rigorous sorting, the winemaking process incorporates a proportion of whole bunches ranging from 20 to 50%. Fermentation takes place in small open vats with indigenous yeasts, punctuated by punching down and pumping over over two to three weeks. After vertical pressing, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new, for a period of sixteen to twenty months.
