The Purity and Elegance of a White Wine from the Mâconnais
The estate
Founded in 1880 in Beaune, Maison Joseph Drouhin is a historic name in Burgundy, France. Initially focused on the négociant trade, it gradually built up an extensive estate that now covers 100 hectares. A true pioneer, the estate converted to organic and biodynamic viticulture as early as the late 1980s. Today, the fourth generation of the family runs the domaine, with Frédéric Drouhin as Chairman of the Management Board, alongside Philippe, Véronique and Laurent. The house stands out for its constant pursuit of the authentic expression of its terroirs.
The vineyard
The Mâcon-Bussières terroir lies in southern Burgundy, on the Mont du Mâconnais, near Pouilly-Fuissé. The "Les Clos" lieu-dit rests on Jurassic clay and limestone soils, which are particularly well suited to growing vines. The house owns 70% of this vineyard, which is planted at high densities to encourage deep rooting and naturally limit yields.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage was marked by particularly demanding and challenging weather conditions, which affected harvest volumes. However, the end of the season proved salutary thanks to prolonged sunshine until mid-September, allowing the berries to reach an ideal balance.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes destined for the Mâcon-Bussières Village "Les Clos" 2024 are harvested by hand or by machine, then gently pressed in a pneumatic press. After settling, two thirds of the wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks and one third in 500-litre oak barrels. Ageing lasts between 6 and 10 months, preserving aromatic freshness while bringing a delicate texture.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
