    Neal Martin

The 2019 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru has an exquisite bouquet of beautifully defined citrus fruit, apple blossom and light flinty notes; a bit of peach skin emerges with aeration. The harmonious palate is very well balanced, delivering admirable depth, well-judged acidity, and flavors of white peach and a touch of quince toward the linear finish. Classy.

    Description

Tasting characteristics and advice for the Chablis Premier Cru Vaulorent 2019 from La Chablisienne

    Tasting

    Color
The color shows a brilliant golden hue, accented by subtle golden reflections.

    Nose
The nose opens with fresh citrus aromas, then gains intensity upon aeration with the emergence of exotic notes such as pineapple. Woody, slightly smoky and vanilla nuances complete a bouquet that is both complex and refined.

    Palate
The attack is broad and savory, supported by a delightful richness. The fruitiness perceived on the nose carries through on the palate, underpinned by a generous texture. The finish evolves towards delicately spiced notes, bringing depth to the ensemble.

    The Estate

Founded in 1923 under the guidance of Abbé Balitrand, La Chablisienne is today the reference cooperative cellar in Chablis, both in terms of its size and the quality of its wines. It offers a wide range covering the entire appellation, from Petit Chablis to the Grands Crus, including the Premiers Crus and the emblematic cuvées of Château Grenouille. This diversity showcases all facets of the Chablis terroir through some thirty distinct cuvées.

    The vineyard

"Vaulorent" is a Chablis wine from vineyards located on the right bank of the Serein. Neighboring the Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses, this Premier Cru benefits from an ideal southwest exposure. The vines, around 30 years old, are planted on soils composed of limestone and marl dating from the Middle and Upper Kimmeridgian.

    Winemaking and aging

Cold static settling before fermentation. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out in tank. This Chablis 1er cru is aged for 15 months on fine lees, in tank and in barrels.

    Grape variety

    Chardonnay (100%).
