Description
A Chablis Grand Cru white wine with a saline finish
Chablis Grand Cru "Château Grenouilles" by La Chablisienne is a single-varietal white wine made from Chardonnay in the Chablis Grand Cru appellation. With an average age of 40 years, the vines are rooted mainly in Middle and Upper Kimmeridgian soils, where limestone alternates with Exogyra virgula marls. The wine is aged on fine lees for an average of 20 months, in vats and barrels.
On tasting, the Chablis Grand Cru "Château Grenouilles" 2010 by La Chablisienne reveals aromas of vanilla and spice (saffron) on the nose, before developing scents that are mineral, then reminiscent of white flowers (hawthorn). The wine displays power and complexity, with a palate showing lovely substance while remaining clean and chiselled. The remarkably long finish proves saline and freshly lemony.
