Description
Tasting Notes and Characteristics of La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion 2025
Tasting
Appearance
Deep red with bright, profound reflections.
Nose
Elegant and floral, it opens with notes of rose and peony before giving way to crisp fresh fruits — blackcurrant and redcurrant — of beautiful vivacity.
Palate
The attack is forthright and fleshy, carried by a juicy, generous fruitiness characteristic of Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannic framework, solid and promising, structures a palate with accents of raspberry and cocoa, rounded off by beautiful bitter notes on the finish.
The Structure and Aromatic Framework of a Red Second Wine from Pessac-Léognan
The Estate
A direct neighbour of the renowned Château Haut-Brion, Château La Mission Haut-Brion has stood for several centuries as a major reference of the Bordeaux vineyards. Founded in the 16th century by the Lestonnac family, the estate was later entrusted to the congregation of Lazarist priests. Today part of Domaine Clarence Dillon under the leadership of Prince Robert of Luxembourg, it remains one of the flagship addresses among the great growths of Bordeaux.
The Vineyard
The vines of Château La Mission Haut-Brion extend across the communes of Talence and Pessac, anchored in a terroir of deep gravels resting on a subsoil of clay, sand, limestone and falun, a shelly limestone rock. This exceptional terroir gives rise to Pessac-Léognan wines of great aromatic richness and solid ageing potential.
The Wine
Produced in very limited quantities, La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion is the Second Wine of the estate. This cuvée offers a wonderful invitation to discover the refined world of Château La Mission Haut-Brion. Its name pays tribute to the Lazarist priests of La Mission, who were already shaping this vineyard in the 18th century.
The Vintage
The year 2025 was marked by extreme weather conditions. The cycle led to particularly early harvests, which began under the sign of heat before being slowed by a period of drought. The saving rains of September made it possible to reach a perfect balance. Although the berries proved rare and tiny, they displayed exceptional concentration, heralding a vintage of grandiose potential.
Vinification and Ageing
Ageing is carried out in barrels, including 14% new oak. Alcohol content: 13.1%.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (52.6%), Merlot (28.3%), Cabernet Franc (18%) and Petit Verdot (1.1%).
