The elegance of a Montagne-Saint-Emilion wine by Château Clos de Boüard
The estate
Acquired and renamed in 2016, Château Clos de Boüard is a 30-hectare property (including 24 hectares under vine) located in the Bordeaux region. Managed by Coralie de Boüard de Laforest, the estate benefits from family expertise passed down through several generations.
The vineyard
The estate’s vineyard, located in the Montagne-Saint-Emilion appellation, stretches across south-facing slopes, offering optimal sunshine. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, thrive on high-quality clay-limestone soils interspersed with molasse. Vineyard management focuses on controlled yields of 45 hl/ha. Harvesting, carried out between September 12 and 30, is entirely manual and followed by rigorous optical sorting to retain only the finest berries.
Winemaking and ageing
The production of this wine is overseen by Coralie de Boüard de Laforest, alongside her father Hubert de Boüard de Laforest. The process begins with a pre-fermentation cold maceration at 8 to 10 °C. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration then take place over a period of three to five weeks. Finally, the wine is aged for 10 to 14 months, including 15% in new oak barrels and 15% in once-used barrels. Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.
Grape varieties
This wine is a blend composed of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc.
