    Decanter

Alive and bright, laser sharp and super focused. While the acidity is high it stays in balance with the fresh, crisp fruit and fine but slightly firm tannins. Really cool with no hint of sun or overripeness, crystalline purity and a lick of salty graphite and flint on the finish. Quite a serious wine – sophisticated and well presented with an enjoyable juicy core that brings you back for more. Ends clean. Love this.

Cigar wrappers, blackberries, currants, mint leaves, and flowers already shine in the perfume. There is freshness, length, and elegance here that make it hard to believe this is a second wine. Refined, and energetic, the wine expands as it lingers on your palate. The finish shows its mineral essence, which adds to the complexity. The wine blends 66.5% Merlot, 28.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5.2% Cabernet Franc. 13.25% ABV, 3.7 pH. Drink 2028-2045. 92-94 Pts

Clarence de Haut-Brion shows finesse and subtlety with aromas of cherries and strawberries. Velvety and linear, the wine has supple, perfectly integrated tannins. Elegant and harmonious, it can be enjoyed in its youth while offering a respectable ageing potential.

    Jean-Marc Quarin

Deep, intense, purplish-red colour. Very aromatic, refined and subtle nose, close to Haut-Brion with its smoky note and different from La Mission or Chapelle due to the absence of raspberry aromas. More sun-kissed as the glass is swirled. Precise on entry, highly fragrant through the mid-palate, with bright flavour and a slightly firm line, the wine stretches out at length, rich in aromas. A delight. Blend: 66.5% Merlot, 28.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5.2% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 13.25% - pH: 3.69. Yield: 22.3 hl/ha.

The elegance of a second wine from Pessac-Léognan signed Château Haut-Brion

    The estate
The documented history of Château Haut-Brion as a wine estate begins with its creation in 1525 by Jean de Pontac. Located on the outskirts of Bordeaux, this illustrious property is the only First Growth of 1855 located outside the Médoc. A pioneer, the estate established itself as the world’s first luxury wine brand as early as 1521. Acquired in 1935 by Clarence Dillon, the estate is now brilliantly managed by his great-grandson, Prince Robert of Luxembourg. This mythical vineyard on the left bank of Bordeaux has upheld a tradition of excellence for nearly five centuries.

    The vineyard
The vineyard extends across the Pessac-Léognan appellation, benefiting from a unique microclimate influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and protected by the Landes forest. The vines thrive on an exceptional terroir composed of deep gravel soils resting on a subsoil of clay, sand, and limestone.

    The vintage
The year 2025 was marked by extreme weather conditions. Drought and lack of water initially slowed the ripening of the red grape varieties. However, the teams’ patience and timely rains in September helped restart the vegetative cycle. Harvest ultimately took place calmly, with meticulous sorting to discard sun-affected clusters, yielding rare, small berries with immense concentration.

    Winemaking and aging
The estate’s second wine, this Clarence de Haut-Brion 2025 benefits from the same meticulous care as the grand vin during its cellar production. The aging of this vintage is carried out with 17% new oak barrels, helping to support the wine’s structure while preserving the brightness of its aromas. Alcohol content: 17% vol.

    Grape varieties
66.5% Merlot, 28.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5.2% Cabernet Franc.
