    Description

The refinement of a great Saint-Julien red wine by Ducru-Beaucaillou

    The estate

An icon of the left bank, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is undoubtedly one of the greatest names in the Bordeaux region. The 2nd Cru Classé of the Official Classification of 1855 embodies the perfect model of a great Saint-Julien. Acquired by the Borie family in 1941, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou takes its name from its extraordinary terroir. Led with great passion and determination by the talented Bruno Borie, Ducru-Beaucaillou today belongs to the elite circle of great Saint-Julien wines.

    The vineyard

Placed alongside the river, the gravels dating from the Günz ice age have forged the identity of the terroir of this vineyard on Bordeaux's Left Bank. Positioned near the Gironde estuary, the vines benefit from an exceptional microclimate as the river acts as a thermal regulator.

    The wine

Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou is an introduction to the style of its elders, the Grand Vin of Ducru-Beaucaillou and La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou. Endowed with its own style, this Saint-Julien wine presents the same attention from the team during the vegetative cycle of the vine, the same uncompromising selection and the same rigorous vinification as the other two wines of the estate.

    Winemaking and ageing

After harvests and a bespoke winemaking process, the wine ages for 12 months in Bordeaux barrels, 30% in new wood and 70% in barrels of one previous wine.

    Blend

    Merlot (78%)
    Cabernet Sauvignon (18%)
    Petit Verdot (4%)
