    Description

Le Petit Mouton from Mouton Rothschild 2016: A generous and creamy Pauillac

Produced in the Pauillac appellation, Le Petit Mouton from Mouton Rothschild is the second wine of Chateau Mouton Rothschild. The vineyard covers 90 hectares, and is planted on banks of gravel and a marl-limestone subsoil. The grape varieties planted are 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc.

The grapes that were used to produce Le Petit Mouton 2016 experienced exceptional climatic conditions starting at the end of June. The berries were small at the end of their maturation, which means that they were dense and highly concentrated. Harvest was from September 26th to October 14th.

Le Petit Mouton from Mouton Rothschild 2016 has a dark, carmine colour with purple highlights. The nose emits complex aromas of black fruits (blackberries, blueberries), as well as cocoa beans. The attack is a blend of flesh and freshness. Its density is splendid, and the tannins are elegant. The wine reveals itself to be generous and unctuous. There are hints of spice and graphite, in the mouth. The finish is incredibly long, balanced and fresh.
