Description
The creaminess and refinement of a great red wine from Roussillon
The estate
A true treasure of Languedoc, the Les Vignes Oubliées project was born from the joint initiative of Jean-Baptiste Granier and Olivier Jullien. Driven by a common passion, they committed to preserving old high-altitude vines located in the town of Saint-Privat, in the Larzac. Planted on shale, sandstone, and clay-limestone soils, these vines are cultivated in accordance with organic farming. Carried by a spirit of authenticity and sharing, the cuvées of Les Vignes Oubliées embody all the generosity and sincerity of the great wines of Languedoc.
The vineyard
The Terrasses du Larzac cuvée from Domaine Les Vignes Oubliées comes from vines located in the heart of this prestigious appellation, more precisely on the terroirs of Saint-Privat. The soils, composed of sandstone, shale, and clay-limestone, provide an ideal environment for the expression of local grape varieties. Faithful to traditional practices, the vineyard is cultivated without the use of chemical herbicides or synthetic products.
Vinification and aging
The harvest is carried out by hand with a first meticulous sorting directly in the vineyard, followed by a second sorting in the cellar. Part of the harvest is destemmed before a maceration that extends over 15 to 20 days. The aging, for its part, takes place over 12 months in demi-muids, within a natural cave, guaranteeing freshness and aromatic complexity.
Blend
This Terrasses du Larzac 2022 from Les Vignes Oubliées is a blend of grenache, syrah, and carignan.
