    The estate

Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Aloxe-Corton, the Louis Latour House remains an essential benchmark in Burgundy viticulture. Now led by Louis-Fabrice Latour, representing the eleventh generation, this independent family-run House owns Burgundy’s largest Grand Cru estate, with 48 hectares of vines, including 27 hectares classified as Grand Cru. A pioneer in modernizing winemaking techniques in the 19th century, Louis Latour is notably distinguished by the creation of the prestigious Corton-Charlemagne.

    The vineyard

Bâtard-Montrachet thrives on an exceptional terroir located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, in the commune of Puligny-Montrachet. Clos Poirier occupies a central position within the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru appellation, below the mythical Montrachet. This unique 85-are parcel stands out for its north-south vine orientation, a rare feature within the appellation. The vines, averaging 15 years of age, are rooted in clay-limestone soils and produce a controlled yield of 40 hectoliters per hectare. Harvesting is carried out by hand.

    The vintage

The year 2022 proved to be a very good vintage in Burgundy, offering favorable conditions for crafting exceptional wines.

    Winemaking and aging

The 2022 Bâtard-Montrachet benefits from traditional vinification in oak barrels, followed by full malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 8 to 10 months in 100% new barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, crafted from French oak with a medium toast.

    Grape variety

This white Grand Cru is made from 100% Chardonnay.
