    The estate

Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Beaune, Louis Latour remains an independent family-owned estate led by the 11th generation of the Latour family. Descended from a line of coopers established since 1731, the estate has built the largest Grand Cru vineyard holdings in the Côte d'Or. This Burgundian house embodies two centuries of winegrowing excellence in Burgundy, combining innovation and tradition.

    The vineyard

The “Vignes Franches” climat takes its name from the historical exemption from land taxes enjoyed by this terroir. Located mid-slope in the commune of Beaune, this Beaune vineyard lies on clay-limestone soils enriched with fine gravel that promotes excellent drainage. The vines, averaging 35 years of age, thrive on this privileged terroir that combines the opulence of neighboring Pommard wines with very appealing fruit.

    Winemaking and aging

The grapes are hand-picked and traditionally vinified in open vats. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in full. Aging lasts 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with 25% new oak of medium toast.
