    The estate

Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Beaune, Louis Latour remains an independent family-owned estate run by the 11th generation of the Latour family. Descended from a line of coopers established since 1731, the estate has built the largest vineyard holding of Grands Crus in the Côte d'Or. This Burgundian house embodies two centuries of winemaking excellence in Burgundy, blending innovation and tradition.

    The vineyard

The "Vignes Franches" climat takes its name from the historical exemption from land taxes once enjoyed by this terroir. Located mid-slope in the commune of Beaune, this Beaune vineyard sits on clay-limestone soils enriched with fine gravel that ensures excellent drainage. The vines, averaging 35 years old, thrive in this privileged terroir, which combines the opulence of neighboring Pommard wines with a very pleasant fruitiness.

    Winemaking and aging

The grapes are hand-harvested and then traditionally vinified in open vats. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in full. The wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with 25% new oak of medium toast.
