    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru "Les Chatelots" 2023 Louis Latour

    Tasting

    Colour
This red wine from France reveals an elegant ruby hue, enhanced by brilliant garnet reflections.

    Nose
Wonderfully delicate, the bouquet opens with dominant aromas of cocoa and mocha. It then reveals subtle floral notes accompanied by a mineral backdrop.

    Palate
The palate opens generously and full of roundness, carried by a refreshing acidity. It unfolds flavours of ripe red fruits, nuances of undergrowth and a chalky minerality. The tannins, particularly silky and supple, envelop the palate through to an airy finish of remarkable length.

    Food and wine pairing

Ideal alongside delicate meats, this wine pairs wonderfully with duck, a shepherd's pie made with truffle confit, or refined game such as woodcock in sauce or roasted partridge. As for cheese, it beautifully complements soft washed-rind varieties such as Brillat-Savarin, Reblochon or Cîteaux.

    Service and storage

To fully appreciate the Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru "Les Chatelots" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 15 and 17°C. This vintage can be enjoyed young but has the structure needed to evolve harmoniously in the cellar until around 2033.

The finesse and mineral elegance of a Burgundy Premier Cru by Louis Latour

    The estate

Officially founded in 1797 by Jean Latour, the House of Louis Latour is a historic institution of Burgundy, based in the village of Aloxe-Corton. This exceptional estate oversees a vineyard of around 48 hectares, a significant portion of which is classified as Grand Cru. Now led by Florent Latour, representing the eleventh generation, the family business stands out for its pioneering commitment to sustainable viticulture and for owning its own cooperage. Combining tradition and modernity, Louis Latour shines around the world with wines that faithfully express the richness of their terroirs.

    The vineyard

Located in the prestigious Côte de Nuits, the Chambolle-Musigny terroir is renowned worldwide for producing the most elegant wines in the region. The specific Climat "Les Chatelots" stands out for its limestone soil, giving the grapes a pure, chalky minerality and a beautifully delicate balance. The estate follows certified sustainable farming practices, promoting biodiversity and soil health to let the full typicity of this exceptional terroir shine through.

    The vintage

The 2023 vintage is characterised by generous yields and remarkable quality. Following a cool spring and a late budbreak in mid-April, which protected the buds from frost, summer proved warm with regular rainfall. A sudden rise in temperatures, exceeding 30°C in the two weeks before harvest, accelerated ripening. To preserve the freshness of the berries, harvesting was carefully carried out at night or early in the morning.

    Winemaking and aging

True to the house philosophy that favours finesse, the making of the Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru "Les Chatelots" 2023 benefits from unique expertise. The aging process draws on the know-how of the estate's own integrated cooperage. The barrels, crafted from oak sourced in northern France and air-dried for 30 to 36 months, undergo a medium toast. This tailored approach achieves a perfect balance between the subtle influence of the wood and the pure expression of the terroir.
