The estate

Created in 1797 by Jean Latour in Aloxe-Corton, the Louis Latour estate has remained an independent family property for over two centuries. Situated in Burgundy over 50 hectares, it is the largest domaine of Grands Crus in the Côte d'Or, with emblematic plots such as Corton Grèves and Bressandes. This dual expertise in winemaking and cooperage, combined with their staunch independence, distinguishes Louis Latour in the contemporary Burgundian landscape.

The vineyard

The "Clos Saint-Jean" lies south of the woods of Chassagne-Montrachet, mid-slope on a clay-limestone terroir. This historic plot was once the property of the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Jean-le-Grand, founded before the year 1000. The vines, averaging 35 years old, benefit from a controlled yield of 50 hl/ha and are hand-harvested.

Winemaking and aging

Vinification follows a traditional process in oak barrels with full malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 8 to 10 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, of which 25% are new, with medium toast.

Grape variety

100% Chardonnay.
