    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Monthélie Village 2024 Louis Latour

    Tasting

    Colour
This wine reveals a limpid colour dressed in a beautiful ruby hue.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with generous notes of black cherry, subtly enhanced by touches of liquorice and nutmeg.

    Palate
The attack reveals a rounded texture, supported by silky tannins. The generous fruit expression and lovely freshness balance perfectly, giving way to delicate mineral notes of undergrowth on the finish.

    Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, a traditional coq au vin, a Burgundian fondue, or a platter of matured cheeses.

    Service and Storage
To fully appreciate the Monthélie Village 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 14 and 15°C. With fine ageing potential, this wine will be ideal to drink until around 2029.

The Elegance of a Great Pinot Noir from Burgundy by Louis Latour

    The Estate
Founded in 1797, the Maison Louis Latour is a true institution in Burgundy. Still family-owned and independent, this internationally renowned brand is now led by Florent Latour, Chairman of the Executive Board. The estate spans 48 hectares, including 27 hectares classified as Grand Cru, representing the largest vineyard of this rank in the Côte d'Or. Uniquely in the region, the estate has its own traditional cooperage. Committed to sustainable viticulture, the house skilfully combines respect for its historic terroir with contemporary technical expertise.

    The Vineyard
The Monthélie appellation, whose name derives from the Latin term meaning "small mountain", covers 98 hectares. This terroir forms an extension of the Volnay slopes, nestled in a vast basin located behind the villages of Pommard and Volnay. The vines, averaging 30 years of age, thrive on clay-limestone soils of Bathonian origin. To preserve the quality of the grapes, yields are strictly controlled at 45 hectolitres per hectare, and the harvest is carried out exclusively by hand.

    Winemaking and Aging
The making of the Monthélie Village 2024 begins with traditional fermentation in open vats, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, 10% of which are new. These barrels, crafted in the house's own cooperage and given a medium toast, allow for subtle wood integration that fully respects the identity of the terroir.
