    Decanter

Some blackcurrant liqueur touches with perfumed aromatics. Smooth and round, this shows weight on the tongue with richness in terms of the blackcurrant and black cherry flavours. A lovely concentration and persistence with freshness at the end. No hollow mid-palate, really giving a consistency that goes all the way through. A soft chew from the tannins and tangy acidity, but all presented with refinement. Appealing and approachable, but still with intensity.

71% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot. Ex-Fourcas-Borie (in Listrac) with added fruit from Moulis and Cussac-Fort-Médoc. Cask sample. Savoury and firm on the nose. Round, bright and succulent on the palate, with the emphasis on the fruit. Structured and upright on the finish. Really quite delicious but for early-drinking pleasure. (JL)

The 2021 Madame de Beaucaillou has a very competent, lush bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and touches of allspice. The palate is medium-bodied with a hint of sour cherry on the entry, quite soft toward the finish, lending it a pleasing approachability.

Tobacco leaf, plums, cherries, and a hint of cocoa pop on the nose. Already quite tasty in your glass, the wine is soft, energetic, sweet, and fresh, with plenty of cherries and a light but judicious touch of chocolate and spearmint on the finish. Drink from 2024–2031.

    Falstaff

Dark garnet core with purple hues at the narrow rim. Nuances of blackberries and dark cherries, fine herbal savouriness, hints of orange zest. Lean red-berry fruit, fresh blackcurrants, fine tannins, lively, saline finish; an uncomplicated food companion.

The 2021 Madame De Beaucaillou is a little gem of a wine with tons to love. Ripe black cherries, spice box, and savory herb notes all define the aromatics, and it’s medium-bodied, balanced, with terrific ripeness and a great finish. Drink bottles any time over the coming decade.

(71% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot, 12.5% vol. alcohol) Floral, silky, fragrant bouquet; red cherries, currants, lilac, vanilla. Delicate, well-structured palate with fine fruit, fine-grained sandy tannins, spicy aromatics, a slender structure, and a medium finish. 16/20 2027 - 2038

Violet-edged, bright berry in colour, clear redcurrant and cassis fruits. It is sappy with clarity to the flavours, leaner than recent years with an emphasis on floral notes, ready to drink fairly soon. 20% new oak. There was more frost over in Listrac compared to St Julien, giving a 27–30 hl/ha yield in the Haut-Medoc and then one-third was declassified to bring it down to a 21 hl/ha final yield.

    The Wine Independent

    Lisa Perrotti-Brown

A blend of 71% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 14% Petit Verdot, the 2021 Madame de Beaucaillou is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It skips from the glass with exuberant notes of cherry preserves, red plums, and mulberries, leading to touches of wild sage and graphite. The light-bodied palate is refreshing and clean, with soft tannins and an earthy finish.

    Le Figaro Vin

Delicate and crisp, this wine opens with exhilarating aromas of purple fruits and a hint of smokiness. Dangerously easy to drink, it reveals supple, digestible tannins.

The clarity of the fruit and the freshness are inviting, almost comforting cues, and Madame de Beaucaillou does not fail to reveal them. Silky and harmonious, the wine aims to be approachable while possessing a supportive tannic structure.

A perfumed wine, floral with red-rose aromas. The wine is a blend dominated by Merlot, with juicy black-currant fruits and a polished texture. Drink from 2026.
